My new novel was launched by the wonderful Declan Hughes in The Liquor Rooms, Dublin, last Thursday night. I think my favourite quote was when he said it was “A jet black comedy, a coming of age novel – It’s Oedipus in Crossmaglen!”
I read Chapter 7, Egg and Chips, a cafe scene in which two characters discuss a local murder.
Thanks to Liberties Press and The Liquor Rooms for hosting the event, Declan Hughes, Jamie O’Neill (author of At Swim, Two Boys) – “The Organised Criminal is a masterly novel of male friendship, family betrayal and economic corruption. By turns brutal, beautiful and funny, it’s an astute exploration of an Ireland rarely seen in fiction”, and Mark O’Halloran (writer and star of Adam and Paul) – “A book brimming with rage and indignation, hewn from the very darkest of materials but always temprered with well judged humour and sharply observed detail” – for their kind reviews and generous support. Most importantly, thanks to everyone who came along on the night.
